Applies to manufacture and purchase of pipes intended for the conveyance of water under pressure. It does not apply to pipes having embedded steel cylinders or to prestressed concrete pipes. Sections deal with materials, design stresses, reinforcement cover, joints and curing; dimensions and tolerances, testing and marking are included. Appendices detail procedures for determining compressive strength and indirect tensile strength of concrete, hydrostatic pressure testing, determination of water absorption, load testing, and pipe strength under combined internal pressure and external load.
